Cast from the original bronze by the early renaissance sculptor Donatello, casted around 1450 and today preserved at the Bargello Museum in Florence. Probably made for the courtyard of Palazzo Medici it was originally guided and placed on a column. The statue symbolizes the triumph of the reason over the brute force personified by the giant Golia, masterpiece of artistic expressivity and chisel.
